How engagement rate is calculated
ER = average (reactions + comments (+ shares)) per post ÷ followers/fans × 100%
Example: an account with 20,000 followers gets an average of 300 interactions per post. ER = 300 ÷ 20,000 × 100% = 1.5%. Use several posts (for example the last 10) so one viral post doesn't skew the result.
Typical ER range by account size
| Account size | |
|---|---|
| Nano (< 10K) | 0.5–1.5% |
| Micro (10K–100K) | 0.3–1% |
| Macro (100K–1M) | 0.15–0.5% |
| Mega (≥ 1M) | 0.05–0.3% |

FAQ
What is engagement rate?
Engagement rate (ER) shows how actively an audience interacts with posts on Facebook: the average number of interactions per post divided by the number of followers, as a percentage.
What is a good engagement rate?
It depends on the platform and account size: smaller accounts usually have higher ER. SinyalTren compares your number with a typical range for accounts of the same size on the same platform. These ranges are estimates compiled from several 2025–2026 industry reports, whose figures differ from one another.
Why is my ER low even though I have many followers?
Common causes: many inactive or fake followers, rarely posting, content that doesn't match the audience, or reduced reach. On X, a shadowban can also lower interactions — use the shadowban checker to rule it out.
Can a very high ER be a bad sign?
An ER far above the typical range can come from a viral post or giveaway, but also from engagement groups or bought interactions. Brands usually look at several posts, not just one.
